Brandon Hernandez is a senior graphic designer and current Creative Director of the Design Den, as well as a Mac Lab student monitor. He designs promotional pieces for the Lander Art Gallery and interns with Bay Island Sportswear. Inspired by meeting design legend Stefan Sagmeister, Brandon is quickly growing a list of his own graphic design clients.

Ashley Dever is a senior BFA 3D artist and an invaluable Art Department leader. As Ceramics Studio Manager, she oversees supplies, equipment, and kiln firing for all students. Ashley represented the department at recruitment events and presented at the Bascom Center for Contemporary Art.

Having done extensive research into Edward Hopper, including organizing a trip to a Hopper exhibition, Chloe has applied specific lessons from her art historical research into her own original creative work, engaging themes and artistic strategies from Hopper’s art in innovative ways.

In HIST 499, through a meticulous use of primary sources from the Foreign Relations of the United States collection, she wrote a fascinating paper on the role of Henry Kissinger in the diplomatic resolution of the infamous 1976 North Korean Axe Murder Incident and thus earned this award for the best senior seminar paper.

In HIST 499, Cameron wrote an excellent paper showing how South Korean President Park Chunghee navigated the complex waters of Cold War diplomatic relations to pursue Korean national interests through a careful study of his speeches, thus earning this award for the best senior seminar paper.

She has been accepted into the Master of Social Work program at the University of South Carolina.

Emily Mulholland achieved a remarkable feat: the highest GPA among the Spring 2020 graduating senior nursing class. She is also fulfilling a family dream by becoming a nurse; her grandmother and mother both aspired to the profession and gave her continuous support and encouragement in her studies.

Already a practicing nurse, Carrie Pundt has maintained a 4.0 in her RN-BSN courses. This accomplishment is even more striking because Carrie achieved this goal while working full-time as nurse manager at NHC in Greenwood.

Barbara T. Freese Scholarly Development Award

An Honors College member, Tranisha Hardy completed an externship with the SC Department of Mental Health. She also served as Honors Service Chair and VP of her Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter. Tranisha is completing an independent research study on implicit bias among student nurses that was accepted for presentation by the SC Academy of Sciences.

Amira Abdelwahab is a political science major with minors in both international studies and homeland security. In 2017, Amira spent a semester in Washington, DC interning for Congressman Jeff Duncan. Then, in 2019, she studied abroad at the University of Winchester. Amira is a Pi Sigma Alpha honor society member, Presidential Ambassador, Student Government representative, President of Lander's Political Science Association, and winner of the Lander International Studies Award.

In 2018, Julia spent a semester studying abroad at the University of Winchester in the United Kingdom. She has presented psychology research at the Lander Academic Symposium and is also the recipient of the William T. Martin psychology scholarship for 2019-2020.

Carrie Floth is a psychology major and English minor. In 2018, she spent a semester abroad at the University of Winchester. At Lander, Carrie has served as president of Psi Chi Psychological Honor Society, supplemental instructor for psychology classes, tutor for Spanish and philosophy classes, and editor of New Voices student literary journal. She also completed internships for Connie Maxwell Children’s Home and the Savannah River Site, where she will be returning to work after graduation.

2020欧洲杯首页Sarah Floyd has a double major in English-professional writing and Spanish. She spent last spring semester honing her language skills at the Tandem Escuela Internacional in Madrid. Sarah also worked as a legislative assistant and campaign manager for Rep. John McCravy and as a policy research fellow at Lander. Her writing has been featured by several blogs, websites, and local newspapers. A member of Sigma Tau Delta honor society, Sarah also earned the Symposium Scholar Award at the Lander Academic Symposium for her research in linguistics and psychology.

Ralph Norman and the Greenville office of Senator Lindsey Graham. She is also a Student Government representative and honor society member who has served as an RA, Orientation Leader, tutor, and president of the Political Science Association. Sarah has been accepted into the graduate program in International Relations at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Tranisha Hardy is a nursing major. In 2018-19, Tranisha completed an externship with the SC Department of Mental Health, working primarily with disabled veterans. She also served as Honors College Leadership Council’s Service Chair and VP of her Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter. Tranisha is completing an independent research study on implicit bias among student nurses that was accepted for presentation by the SC Academy of Sciences. After graduation, she will begin a Prisma Health Midlands nurse residency.

A member of Alpha Kappa Delta and Pi Sigma Alpha honor societies, Hannah spent the Fall 2019 semester studying abroad at the University of Winchester in England. She interned for Hawthorne Merrill Law Firm and plans to attend law school in search of a career that will allow her to help others.

Emma Jetty is a nursing major. The executive chair of the Honors College Leadership Council, Emma managed the Honors social and service programs for two years. She also served as a Presidential Ambassador, a LINK 101 peer leader, and a student worker in the Lander University Office of the President. Emma completed a yearlong nursing externship at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood in 2019-20, and she will be returning to Self as a critical care nurse after graduation.

Peyton served as a Presidential Ambassador and leader in Phi Mu, and she held many additional leadership roles in various clubs and organizations. She still found time to study abroad in Turin, Italy during the Spring 2019 semester, taking coursework in the Italian language, media, and management. Peyton received the 2020 Business Management & Marketing Award.

Scarlett Singletary is a chemistry major, and also a practicing chemist with significant experience in her field. Currently employed as a lab scientist with Lonza, Scarlett previously worked as a quality control chemist with PL Developments. She also serves as president of Lander’s chapter of the American Chemical Society. Scarlett has presented research at the Upstate Research Symposium, Academic Symposium, and Western Carolina American Chemical Society, the last of which presented her with the Outstanding Senior Award.

2020欧洲杯首页Mekensie Therrien is majoring in psychology and Spanish and minoring in therapeutic horsemanship. She volunteers at the LU Equestrian Center, and she served as a peer tutor for Spanish and anthropology and a teaching assistant for psychology. Mekensie spent a semester studying at Tandem Escuela Internacional in Madrid. Her research on stigma and mental health was presented at the 2019 National Conference on Undergraduate Research, and her recent project has been accepted for the 2020 national conference of the American Psychological Association.

Sarah Williams-Shealy is an English-secondary education major. She is a Lander University Teaching Fellow and a member of the Sigma Tau Delta honor society. She spent a semester studying abroad at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, England. Sarah also served as a Writing Center tutor for three years, and she presented her research on writing instruction at the Southeastern Writing Center Association Conference and a Sigma Tau Delta regional conference. She will be returning to teach at her high school alma mater next year but also has plans for graduate school.

She is completing an extended web design project that included a survey of user experience. C.J. also served as Vice President of Lander’s Technology Club for two consecutive years. She is an avid traveler; one of her favorite destinations is Vietnam, a nation she has visited multiple times during her years at Lander.​
